Melvin Seals Asbury Park Concert reviews
Rock and Roll at its Finest!
An amazing show, well worth the investment, I had to laugh. Melvin Seals surprised me with his high vocals and energy level. Joe Perry's slide guitar work was second to none, especially the drum solo. Cheap Trick backing them up, not only hitting the notes, but Steven's energy was spectacular. Rick Nielson's son was a very capable substitute for Bun E. Carlos, who has since retired. The band was active and tight, and Robin Zander can still sing. His energy was spectacular, all over the stage and catwalk, interacting with the crowd extremely well. When he threw the sticks in the crowd and continued the solo with his hands... and his HEAD! The music was hard driving, and Cheap Trick doesn't get enough credit for their influence on rock and roll that came after them. I don't know how these guys keep their vocal cords from popping out of their throats.
